How We Work

Electronic Editing

After your document is received electronically, it will be downloaded and printed out. The document will be checked for formatting and font consistency and then read and edited for spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage, style, consistency, and agreement.

Revisions will be applied to the electronic version of the document using the Track Changes tool, which is standard in Microsoft® Word.

Track Changes also permits the addition of “Comments,” which will be addressed to your attention as queries or suggestions.

The revised document will be sent to you electronically. Track Changes will enable you to see all revisions, comments, and queries. You will be able to view either the “marked” document (with the changes indicated), the “clean” document (without the visible markings), or the “original” document (as it appeared before any changes were made). You can print out the marked, clean, and original versions of the document.

Track Changes also gives you the option of “accepting” or “rejecting” any or all revisions. However, before you do that, you may choose to save the marked and original versions of the document, because the modifications and text marked for deletion will no longer be visible after accepting or rejecting revisions.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the comparison read of the proof against the approved reference document. When revised or corrected proofs are checked, the original set of proofs with marked changes serves as the reference document.

You may submit proofs as hard copy or in electronic form (such as PDF files).

When the proofs and reference document have been received from you, the proofs will be read word for word against the reference document, and any errors or omissions will be indicated.

Marked proofs will be returned to you either as hard copy or as a PDF file, depending on the type of project and your preferences.
